Anna bradubury little arts scholarship, 2022
Zhenyi Lin shares the profound impact of the Anna Bradbury Little Arts Scholarship on her knowledge of, and experience in, the field of visual arts.
“I am so incredibly grateful to receive the Anna Bradbury Little Arts Scholarship. It has truly changed my life for the better. Thanks to the scholarship, I've been able to gain access to so many wonderful art materials such as oil and acrylic paints, ink, and charcoal.
Accessing these traditional mediums have been crucial to relieving the stress accumulated throughout my daily life – they allow me to spend time away from the screen. Additionally, I was able to upgrade my digital drawing tablet to a Wacom tablet, which is more travel-friendly and has allowed me to make digital art in more flexible ways. Recently, I used my new tablet to make digital pieces to donate to a charity drive run by the Mac.Rob Art Club in collaboration with our Guides In Volunteering club.
I’ve also been able to buy a camera and explore photography, immortalising memories and capturing moments of my life. Without the grant, I would never dream of owning a camera outside of my phone, and now I am thrilled to explore this exciting new medium. My new supplies have intensified my passion for the visual arts and its endless possibilities.
Attending a painting class with the scholarship funds taught me valuable observational skills and inspired me to conduct still-life drawing sessions at Art Club so that my community could share in the joy of learning and creating together. I feel that I have been able to share my knowledge and excitement for art with my peers in the process of conducting these still life drawing sessions.”
